The new island hall & reading room

A new community centre will improve the inhabitants' life and give visitors a wider choice of activities and it's now within our grasp; a plan has at last been drawn and agreed by the reading room committee. It will soon be displayed for all to see at the reading room and once islanders have agreed on the internal layout it will go to Buckingham Gate and then to St Mary's Planning committee hopefully for their May meeting.
A copy will also soon be on this site for all to see.

The new centre will have a hall large enough to accommodate a badminton court, 3 table tennis tables, indoor bowls and our school children's athletic apparatus.

Off the hall there will be a fitness room equipped with 8 pieces of fitness equipment.

There will be a designated room for the doctor's surgery as well as a library/meeting room and a large kitchen.

Toilets for men and women will both have a disable toilet and the women's will also have baby changing facilities. There will be access from the outside as well as internal.

Now we just need to raise the rest of the cash needed to fulfil all this. So far £145,000 including pledges has been raised which we think is brilliant however to complete this dream building we will need at least £250,000.
So this year we are going for further funding and grants, and are again running a lottery with some fabulous prizes, click on the lottery page for the full details.
